Foreign-exchange traders are also on at odd hours. The Wall Street Journal ran a story on March 2 about the boom of people trading forex at 3 a.m. It interviewed a woman who now, thanks to her trading regimen, sleeps just four hours a night. The headline read: “You Snooze, You Lose.”
Even stock volumes are seeing an uptick after hours, although “to call it after hours is really a misnomer,” says Bernard McDevitt of Cheevers, which brokers trades for institutions. “If you propose trading Asian equity during Asian hours, you’re trading during ordinary hours in Asia.”
